Dazed and Confused
Writer and director Richard Linklater's 1993 movie, Dazed and Confused was not a box office hit but, in the years, since it was released it's come to be regarded as one of the best high school movies of all time and a classic comedy. The film tells the story of the last day of school at Lee High School in Austin, TX and centers around several groups of students including the rising seniors, the incoming freshmen and served as Matthew McConaughey's breakout role as Wooderson, a man in his twenties who is still hanging out with high school kids. The film is famous for the number of future stars it featured including Jason London, Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, Cole Hauser, Parker Posey, Adam Goldberg, Matthew McConaughey, Nicky Katt, Joey Lauren Adams, and Rory Cochrane. A significant portion of the film's budget went towards securing the rights to the soundtrack's classic rock ensemble featuring Foghat, Peter Frampton, The Steve Miller Band, ZZ Top and Alice Cooper. It was filmed onsite in Austin and locales from the movie, such as The Emporium are still in existence.
