Minor League Baseball
I attended my first professional baseball games in Gastonia, NC in the 1970s watching a class A minor league team for the St. Louis Cardinals. Some of the highlights were attendance driving visits by Hall of Fame players Mickey Mantle and Bob Feller. Feller invited me to watch an entire game with from the box seats. He told me stories of his major league career and his World War 2 service in the Navy.
My hometown has had several minor league teams and stadiums through the years. Currently we have a franchise belonging to the Houston Astros and a band new brick stadium located right in the heart of downtown. Compared to the major league version, attending a minor league game is affordable and tailored for family fun.
