The Devil's Tramping Ground

The Devils Tramping Ground

When I was a kid, I thought certain things were going to be much more of a problem than they have turned out to be in adulthood. Chief among these non-problems are quicksand and haunted houses. I thought they'd be everywhere, but as it turns out both are in short supply. Luckily, in a nearby county, there is a spot in the woods that easily reachable via short walk from a nearby road called the Devil's Tramping Ground. Since its discovery over 300 years ago a legend had grown up about this circular bare spot where nothing will grow. Legend has it that anything placed in the circle will be cast out during the night. All sorts of explanations have been floated about how the Devil's Tramping Ground (as it's called) came to be. Some claim it is the site of Native American ceremonies. Others says its nothing more than the remains of a molasses mill. Many people, including more than a few hard-boiled news reporters have stated that attempts to spend the night within the circle have resulted in definite feelings of an otherworldly presence. You are more than welcome to come and see for yourself!
